Holiday Gift Guide: All That Glitters

So there's something that's been on my mind recently and this morning I finally had a revelation about it. It's Christmas/Holiday time and in my mind that means food on food on food on happiness on celebrations. Now while that all may sound awesome, I (like every other woman on the planet) majorly struggle with body image issues around this time of the year. The saying "A moment on the lips, forever on the hips" rings through my ears with every free sample of cheesecake I take at Costco.

But here's the thing, like I talked about around Thanksgiving, it's all about balance and realizing that you are loved and you are enough. While living a healthy lifestyle full of good choices and exercise is incredibly important, don't let that inhibit you from enjoying this special time with your loved ones. If you're out watching the game with your parents...have a beer with them. Switch out your heavy beers for a Miller Lite or Corona Lite if you're watching your calories. Bonding time with loved ones is vital to our emotional well-being (and so is a good brew now and then(; ).

So all of that to say, screw your beauty and body standards. Eat good food, exercise often (it's good for your soul), and wear clothes that make you feel damn good about yourself. God made you in his image and that is more than enough.

So back to that "wear clothes that make you feel damn good about yourself" point. We all know the saying "All that Glitters is not Gold"...well that's not the case with this top from Urban Outfitters. I was in search of a way to bring a little holiday sparkle to my wardrobe without having to put on some gross gold bedazzled thing, and I found exactly what I was looking for.

Unfortunately the top seen here is already sold out, BUT, Urban has a ton of new holiday tops coming to stores soon and I'll make sure to share if I find out they've restocked this baby!

I paired my shimmer top with a strappy bralette and high waisted straigh leg jeans to tone down the shimmer. Like I said before, it's all about balance! If your top is busy, tone it down with basic bottoms and shoes. If there's a lot exposed on top (like here), tone it down by pairing it with a full coverage bottom!

Enjoy the holidays and add a little sparkle to your life! Stores like Urban are doing an amazing job stocking their shelves with holiday ready pieces that are perfect for all of your party needs!

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful weekend!
