Coming Together

Yesterday I learned some terrible things about a brand, I now admit, I promoted and knew little to nothing about. Sure I knew what their profile bio said (1% for the planet, LA sustainably made blanks), and sure I knew that a lot of much larger influencers I trust were vehemently wearing the brand - but I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t dive into researching the brand like I should have.
This is an opportunity for influencers to remember that “influencing” the decisions of others is at the core of what we do, so it is vitally important that we watch out for those that want to co-opt our pages to exploit our followers. We can’t prevent these people from trying to hurt and exploit others, but we can limit their reach by not endorsing them.
There’s no way to go back, and while deleting old stories + posts helps, it doesn’t absolve us. What’s important is that we all (influencers and non influencers) remember that we have power in our decisions, and that’s pretty badass if you ask me.
And if at this point you’re still totally lost on what I’m talking about, information and the original post by @phoebelouiseholden can be found on my instagram in my highlight titled “awareness”.
On a side note: who on earth did I think I was wearing something called “Sporty & Rich”....girl you have student debt and faked a month long period to get out of gym class in high school, who are you kidding(;
